Cork Constitution 12 Garryowen 12
Cork Constitution 12 Garryowen 12
While Shannon were booking their place at the top of the table, Cork Constitution were slipping up at home against Garryowen. The draw keeps them safely in line for a place in the knockouts, but they could have easily won the encounter had they made more wise decisions early on. Twice in the opening 15 minutes, they were provided with opportunities to kick penalties, but on both occasion they opted to kick for the line out. At half time, Cork led 9-0 but a try from Kevin O'Riordan just after the break brought Garryowen back into it. O'Gara edged Cork further ahead with another penalty in the 55th minute but a try from Frenchman Cyril Tupiniere three minutes later drew the sides level. It would prove to be the final score of the game, though Brian O'Meara's wayward drop goal attempt later might have changed things.
