Business Objects, a provider of business intelligence software, is to invest €29m, with support from IDA Ireland, in establishing an R&D Centre at the SAP facility in CityWest, Dublin. It is anticipated that this will lead to the recruitment of a research and development team of 100 people over a four-year period.

Business Objects established its EMEA operations centre in Dublin in 2004 and currently employs 200 people at its Park West office. In January of 2008 SAP, a provider of business software, acquired Business Objects and employs up to 800 people directly in service centres in Dublin and Galway. Business Objects develops business intelligence software to help clients gain better insight into their business by tracking, analysing and managing information stored in corporate databases, accounting software and customer relationship management systems.
