  • Iontas, a software provider that captures information about how workers use software applications to do their jobs, was recently recommended in an article by marketing intelligence firm IDC, as "the missing link" in business process management. According to the article, "Iontas fills a gap that exists whose objective is to aggregate and harness the rich source of accurate real-time data from different operating environments". It continues, "Using information gleaned from Iontas software, organisations can improve their business processes [and] provide employees with the specialised tools and training they need to be more efficient". Established in 2000, Iontas has offices in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal and Austin, Texas.

  • Servecentric, a data centre managed services company, has been chosen by Cogent Communications - a leading IP network provider - to connect its fibre directly into Servecentric's Dublin centre. Cogent's fibre network will provide Servecentric customers with the ability to have almost limitless multiple Gigabit expansion opportunities. Companies that depend on micro-second connections between end-users and the core Internet applications are a key target for the new service; these include online trading, gaming, and voice and video over Internet services, where end-users want to minimise time-wasting network hops.

  • IT distributor DataSolutions has launched the Wyse Viance family of devices specifically optimised for the new Citrix XenDesktop product line. Datasolutions claims that for IT organisations, the combination of Citrix and Wyse will streamline implementation and maintenance, and simplify the transition from traditional PCs to energy-saving desktop appliances. The new appliances are aimed at simplifying network administration, as everything is controlled and managed centrally.
