Flint Telecom, an Irish-owned firm that
operates in the US, has bought telecoms software firm company Prime Carrier for
an undisclosed sum. Prime Carrier's major shareholders – ACT Venture Capital and
Advent Venture Partners – have approved the transaction, as has early-stage
investor Enterprise Ireland. Flint Telecom, led by telecoms industry investor
Vincent Browne, has developed technology that enables telecoms companies to
provide voice-over-IP telephone services to their clients. Earlier this year,
it completed a $5m fund-raising from private investors. At the end of April, it
announced a reverse takeover of Semotus Solutions, a Californian company whose
shares trade over the counter.
Flint is
headquartered in New York, with operations in Boca Raton FL, Atlanta GA,
Seattle WA, Dublin, The Netherlands and Sweden. Prime Carrier, which will
continue to operate under its own name, has offices in Dublin and Galway.
