A consortium led by the owner of Cork City Football Club, Tom Coughlan, has purchased nine AIB branches in Munster in a €25m sale and lease back deal.
The branches in Clonakilty, Kilrush, Skibbereen, Bantry, Killarney, Tralee, Dingle, Thurles and Ennis were purchased by the consortium and will be leased back to AIB .
Two years ago AIB announced plans for the sale and lease back of a number of its branches. The bank raised about €390m after tax from the sale and leasing of its headquarters in Ballsbridge, Dublin.
