Speaking at the Winter Conferring Ceremonies at the University of Limerick , Chancellor of the university Peter Malone expressed his disappointment that Minister for Education Batt O'Keeffe has not yet announced the setting up of a task force to review Higher Education. The Chancellor spoke of the serious funding crisis affecting Third Level education which precludes the attainment of world-class teaching and research standards. He has called on the Minister to have the €2bn in annual support reviewed in order to identify the funding shortfall.
