Under a new medical twinning programme involving NUI Galway , University College Cork and the Allianze College of Medical Sciences, Kapala Batas in northern Malaysia, a group of Malaysian and south-east Asian students will come to study in this country. A total of 120 students will study medicine in Galway and Cork for the first half of their five-year degree course.
The programme will run for an initial 15 consecutive years, with the possibility of extension beyond that time. The students will acquire a medical degree in Ireland which will be recognised in their own countries, and will then undertake their clinical training in their home countries.
