- Brazilian national Marcio Goncalves da Silva (30) appeared in Tullamore District Court on Monday charged with the murder of Joselita da Silva (33), who was stabbed to death in an apartment in Tullamore 11 days ago. The accused, who is not related to the victim, was remanded in custody.
- Wayne McNally (24), who has 55 previous convictions, received a 13-year sentence when he appeared at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on Thursday following his conviction for shooting a nightclub bouncer in the face and assaulting two gardaí. The incident took place at the Hush Nightclub at the Red Cow Inn in February 2008 after McNally was refused entry.
