Justice Paul Gilligan has not yet announced his decision on a publication date for the report of the Dublin Archdiocese Commission of Investigation, for which he heard legal submissions on October 29. The delay in publication relates to a chapter on the shortcomings of the way in which the State and gardaí dealt with allegations of clerical abuse and includes details of a priest said to have committed a significant number of offences. This priest has yet to appear before the courts.

The chapter is, apparently, the longest in the report and its absence would render the report unbalanced, according to some sources.
