Gardaí are treating as suspicious a fire that destroyed Bolton Hall, a large Georgian house in Ballyboden in southwest Dublin ten days ago. The protected structure, which was built in 1818, had not been lived in for the past five years and the owners, two Galway-based property developers, had been ordered to make it secure against vandals.
While some changes were made, people living in the area had complained to South Dublin County Council that it was still too easy to gain access to the site and to the building. The same locals, as well as conservationists are looking to the council to ensure the building is restored.
