Wexford: Enniscorthy to lose convent |

The former Presentation Convent in the centre of Enniscorthy is to be demolished this week by Michael Bennett & Sons as part of the Town Council's plans to develop the buildings and grounds. However the chapel will reamin standing and will become a community centre, and its new name will be the Nano Nagle Presentation Community Building. A public park is planned for the Nuns' Garden while a small number of sheltered accommodation units will be built on the former Orchard Field. The Presentation Sisters left the building eight years ago and it came under council control in 2006.
