This weekend Oscar hope Saoirse Ronan will perform the official opening of Woodlands falconry and birds of prey sanctuary at Rathwood, Ballyconnell. The venture is run by Tommy Byrne from Ardattin who has a collection of birds ranging from an eagle with a five-foot wing span to the smallest bird, a falcon with a wing span of just seven inches. Providing the music at the event were the four eldest members of the Quade family from Parkbridge. Saoirse Ronan is being hotly tipped to take the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in “The Lovely Bones”.
