Scottish university appointment for QUB vice-chancellor | Print |  Email
Sunday, 15 November 2009

Professor Gerry McCormac, one of the pro-vice-chancellors of Queen's University Belfast, has been appointed as head of the University of Stirling, where he will succeed Professor Christine Hallett. He will take up his new position in May of next year.

This appointment reminds me that I recently became aware that Dr Louise Richardson a native of Waterford, took up the position of Principal and Vice-Chancellor of St Andrew's University, in January of this year. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, the University of California and Harvard University, Dr Richardson was formerly Executive Dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard. She is acknowledged as one of the world's leading authorities on the study of terrorism and political violence.

Dr Richardson was recently interviewed by Bryan Dobson for RTÉ's 'One to One ' series.

It is well worth listening to.
