- Limerick taxi driver John Ryan (43), of Westbury in Co. Clare, was convicted at the Central Criminal Court of raping a 21-year-old woman who had asked to be taken home from a nightclub in October 2007. Ryan was remanded in custody for sentencing next month.
- Liam Bolger (23), of Tallaght, was jailed for life on Tuesday after a jury found him guilty of the murder of Christopher Barry (25) in September 2008. Gardaí had built an excellent case proving that Bolger was the getaway driver for the man who carried out the gangland killing in a bookmaker’s shop in Donnycarney.
- Following a trial earlier this year at which the jury failed to reach a verdict, Daniel Copse (19) of Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick received a three-year sentence for dangerous driving causing death. He was also disqualified from driving for 30 years. In July of last year Copse crashed his car, killing his back seat passenger and friend Matthew O'Connor (16), also of Abbeyfeale.
