Sligo: National award for North Sligo athlete |

Mary Cullen, a member of North Sligo Athletic club, was presented with the Road/Cross Country Athlete of the Year award at the National Athletics Awards last weekend in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin. Despite the fact that a spine injury spoiled her chances of competing at the Beijing Olympics, Mary last year came fourth in the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels and took the bronze medal in the 3,000m at the European Indoor Championships in Turin. Her next goal is the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Santry Park next month.
