Although some of those from outside the parish didn't make the ceremony, parishioners gathered in Our Lady Queen of Ireland church in Rathcabbin last week to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of its dedication. The Mass was celebrated by parish priest Father Joe Kennedy, Father John Donnelly, Father Michael Kennedy, who was ordained in the old St Flannan's Church, and Father Tom Seymour. The combined choirs of the parish provided the music, under the direction of Richie Bourke and members of Rathcabbin Players gave a dramatisation of a Gospel story. At the conclusion of a ceremony of light conducted by the Confirmation candidates from the three schools in the parish, a commemorative tree was planted by ninety-four-year-old Kitty Maher and her grandson Patrick.
