A student in his mid-20s from Letterkenny Institute of Technology lost his life while kite-surfing at Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal on Tuesday. David North, from the village of Milltown in Co. Cavan, was one of a group from Letterkenny kite-surfing when a strong gust of wind lifted him onto the rocks.

A Franciscan Friar from the nearby friary, who administered the Last Rites, was also slightly injured when he was blown off his feet against the rocks.
