An attempt to steal a cash machine from the Bank of Ireland in Keady, Co. Armagh on Wednesday was unsuccessful. A digger was used to demolish the front of the building but police officers who arrived on the scene found the ATM machine lying in the rubble.
Thieves in Templepatrick, Co. Antrim in the early hours of Friday had more success and are believed to have fled with £125k in the recently restocked machine. This raid was the 18th since March and calls have been made for the PSNI to set up a special police task force to deal with the spate of crime.
