Government funds purchase of London Irish centre | Print |  Email
Sunday, 18 December 2011
On Saturday the Irish Times reported that the Government is to give almost €500k to the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith, London to enable it to buy the building it has occupied since 1995. The centre is one of eight being sold by Hammersmith and Fulham Council to cut its debt, and the plan is for the Irish community to purchase it in conjunction with a housing association. It will then be rebuilt but will also include low-cost accommodation for public sector employees such as nurses and police officers.
