Irish-born Iraq veteran dies in Massachusetts |

The death has taken place in Massachusetts of Bernard ‘Bernie’ Shevlin (43), a native of Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan who had settled in East Longmeadow, MA with his wife Kathleen and their three children. Mr Shevlin had served with the Irish Army for five years before emigrating. He then worked as a law officer for four years until he was called up as a volunteer reservist to serve in Iraq where he suffered a serious leg injury and was later discharged.
