Mexican adoption scam affects Irish couples | Print |  Email
Sunday, 29 January 2012

Eleven Irish couples have become embroiled in ongoing investigations into an adoption scam in Mexico, and all were questioned by Mexican police before being allowed to return home. Mothers in Mexico were duped into handing over their babies for a cash payment by being told, for example, that the child would be used in an anti-abortion campaign but would be returned in two weeks. At least one baby was given into the care of an Irish couple who believed they would be adopting the child.
